Method

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Let pizza dough sit at room temperature for 10 minutes. Mix melted butter, garlic, parsley, basil, Italian seasoning, parmesan, salt, and pepper. Reserve about one-third of the butter for brushing after baking.
Step 2: On a lightly floured surface, divide dough into 18–20 equal pieces. Roll each into a smooth ball by pinching the bottom seam closed, then rolling between your palms.
Step 3: Arrange dough balls on the baking sheet in a football shape (a pointed oval): wider in the middle and narrower at both ends. The balls should be touching so they bake together but still pull apart easily.
Step 4: Brush dough balls generously with about two-thirds of the garlic herb butter, letting it drip into the crevices. Rest 10 minutes. Brush lightly with egg wash for a golden finish.
Step 5: Bake 22–27 minutes until puffed and golden brown. Immediately brush the hot bread with the remaining garlic herb butter. Cut mozzarella into thin strips and place on top like football laces. Sprinkle extra parmesan if you want. Cool 5 minutes, then serve warm so guests can pull pieces apart.
